Baker Creek - Norton Creek (#138): **Large sections of this trail fade away into the alpine meadows, and in many places the route is only marked by rockcairns. If you don’t know what a cairn is, or if the lack of a trail makes you nervous, this route is not for you.**
Riding this “trail” can seem like an inefficient use of a mountain bike, but the descent down the West Fork of Norton makes up for all the hike-a-bike sections. For hikers, it is a nice mid-summer walk through hanging, flower-covered alpine meadows.
: Head north on Highway 75 to theBaker Creek Road (15.4 mi). Turn left and stay on the main dirt road until the “NortonCreek” sign (6.2 mi). Continue 3.5 miles out the Baker Cr.Rd. past the Norton turn-off.
