Castle Creek (#140): This trail accesses remote terrain on the east side of Baker Peak and links together with Placer Creek (#141) for an excellent mountain bike loop. Though the scenery is pretty, there is no “destination” for hikers other than exploring some seldom visited country. Loop hikers will want to shuttle a second car and leave it at the mouth of Castle Creek. Mountain bikers can park at the mouth of Placer and ride the dirt roads making a total loop of 10.3 miles & 1,670 feet. The Castle Rock spires at the mouth of Castle Creek are worth a short visit on their own.
Directions: From the town, bear left onto Warm Springs Road and continue to the end of the pavement (4.8 mi). Stay on the main dirt road to Placer Creek (12.5 mi). Turn right onto Placer Creek Road to the trailhead (1.6 mi).
