Broadford Road is a popular route for bicyclists looking for a few miles on pavement, or as a useful link for a longer ride. The road is also used by runners and walkers, but the lack of a shoulder makes the road's usually light traffic seem heavier.
Broadford connects Hailey and Bellevue, is relatively flat, and it takes in both open and wooded terrain as it meanders near the Big Wood River. The surrounding hills include some old mine shaft entrances and other evidence of the area's interesting history.
If you head south out of Hailey, the road soon passes by Colorado Gulch and then cross the Big Wood River. Take in the view on the bridge and then continue south through several turns. The road eventually ends up on Highway 75/Main Street in Bellevue. A loop can be made by taking the paved multi-use Wood River Trail back to Hailey.
