Arboretum Trail:This is a little known gem of a trail. It is right off of the paved Wood River Trail, on the north side of Fox Acres Road in Hailey. A little shady oasis. New interpretive signs about the trees planted along the footpath were installed in 2021. They describe over fifty trees, shrub, forbs and grasses planted along the trail. The plants are almost all native to Idaho or the greater Intermountain West.
Started in 1996 by a group of dedicated locals, the arboretum trail is a wonderful introduction to useful and beautiful plant species that are well-suited to our local climate. Hailey Tree Committee member Linda Ries, who was instrumental in the park's establishment, describes how the unique arboretum trail-park came to be. Linda also provides viewers with a brief tour of some of the magnificent plants growing along the Arboretum Trail.

The trail is located at the paved Wood River Trail and Fox Acres Road in Hailey. It's on the north side of Fox Acres Road and across the highway from the airport.
There are a couple of parking spots off of Fox Acres Road, but the parking is very nearby to the intersection of Fox Acres Road and Highway 75. This makes getting into, and out of, the parking spots rather difficult at times; when traffic is busy (which is often the case at that intersection). A very good way to approach the BCRD Arboretum Trail is by way of the paved Wood River Trail, but please still be careful if you are riding or walking to the trail. It is often a busy pathway. Everyone should be especially attentive and careful at places where the paved path crosses roadways.
