STANDALONE TRAIL MAP
GENERAL COMMENTS: May 30, 2025
Trails will be opening up quickly in the next week with warm temps and trail crews able to get further out to clear trails. Ketchum Ranger District reports most of the front country trails are open and cut out. Greenhorn’s Imperial trail is officially open! There is still snow and moisture hanging at higher elevations and in more shaded aspects. Most Deer Creek and Greenhorn trails have been cleared. Imperial is still holding moisture but will hopefully be open soon. The KRD/WRTC volunteer moto crew has cut out over 300 trees this spring and they are still hard at work. Recently they cleared South Fork of Warm Springs all the way to Poison Flats. Galena Lodge opens for the summer season on June 6th. The BCRD trail crew has begun clearing the trails, however there are still significant sections of snow and deadfall on the trail system. With warm temps, expect the lower Galena trails to open soon.

Bellevue, Hailey, mid-valley, and Ketchum all have pleanty of open trails to choose from now. Croy Canyon trails have been a popular choice this spring for the wildflowers. Users report the yellow lupine are still putting on a show. If you get a chance, venture out Two Dog, Centerline, Democrat, or Colorado Gluch. It is worth it!

Sheep are beginning to move into the valley. Forest Service reports that one band of sheep is in the Limekiln drainage. This band is participating in our targeted grazing project and will be grazing in the bottom of Limekiln just north of the corrals. They will be in Limekiln for 2-4 days before heading into Timber Gulch on the BLM. While a second band might enter the Deer Creek/ Curran allotment around 06/02. They will enter via Bullion Gulch and drop into the top end of Wolftone and trail towards Panther Gulch.

Any trail labeled as partially open (yellow), is available for use if and when conditions allow. Though these trails may not have been cleared of deadfall yet and might still have patches of snow or mud. If a trail has extended wet and muddy sections, please turn back so you do not cause damage to the trail. If you are leaving footprints or tire ruts- that's your sign to turn back.

Wildlife is present. For information on recommended best practices when wildlife are encountered, visit this site's Trail Alerts Section.

As you head out for your trail adventures, feel free to report anything you see that you think should be shared. Email me, the BCRD Trails Coordinator, Ashley Knox at aknox@brcd.org.

Enjoy the trails!
Let's not forget our manners and trail etiquette no matter where we are or how we recreate. A quick reminder- bikers yield to hikers, and hikers and bikers yield to horses, then downhill yields to uphill. If in doubt, just yield to each other and meet someone new while you talk about how lucky we are to be in such an amazing place. Bottom line is to be kind to each other and enjoy being out on the trails.
Continue to look to this site for up-to-date trail info. Please be aware of changing conditions and considerate of trail conditions when you head out for your adventures.
