STANDALONE TRAIL MAP
GENERAL COMMENTS: June 17, 2025

Ketchum Ranger District reports most of the front country trails are open and cut out. Though there is still possibility of snow and moisture hanging in our north valley at higher elevations. Deer Creek and Greenhorn trails have been cleared and the wildflowers are out in force.

Galena Lodge and surrounding trails are open for the summer season! Some Galena trails will remain closed though June 25th for elk calving. Please be respectful of these wildlife closures on sections of The Grinder, Spring Creek, Outhouse Loop, and Crosscut along with all of Bigwood Loop.

Bald Mountain lift operations are scheduled to begin June 27th. Most bike only trails are currently reported to be closed for early season maintenance. Lift assisted biking starts Wednesday July 2nd. Wildlife closures are in place on Cold Springs Trail and part of Warm Spring Trail starting at the Traverse Trail intersection. These closures are in place for elk calving until July 1.

Bellevue, Hailey, mid-valley, and Ketchum all have plenty of open trails to choose from now. Croy Canyon trails have been a popular choice this spring for the wildflowers. Users report the yellow lupine are still putting on a show. If you get a chance, venture out Two Dog, Centerline, Democrat, or Colorado Gluch. It is worth it!

June 11th the Forest Service reported sheep moving throughout the valley. One band is on the ridge between Limekiln and Timber Gulch. They will graze southwest towards Cow Creek/ Cow Creek trail (Trail 180). While a second band is at the top of Howard Gulch (Trail 331) from here they will move into the North Fork of Deer Creek (Trail 157)

Any trail labeled as partially open (yellow), is available for use if and when conditions allow. Though these trails may not have been cleared of deadfall yet and might still have patches of snow or mud. If a trail has extended wet and muddy sections, please turn back so you do not cause damage to the trail. If you are leaving footprints or tire ruts- that's your sign to turn back.

Wildlife is present. For information on recommended best practices when wildlife are encountered, visit this site's Trail Alerts Section.

As you head out for your trail adventures, feel free to report anything you see that you think should be shared. Email me, the BCRD Trails Coordinator, Ashley Knox at aknox@brcd.org.

Enjoy the trails!
Let's not forget our manners and trail etiquette no matter where we are or how we recreate. A quick reminder- bikers yield to hikers, and hikers and bikers yield to horses, then downhill yields to uphill. If in doubt, just yield to each other and meet someone new while you talk about how lucky we are to be in such an amazing place. Bottom line is to be kind to each other and enjoy being out on the trails.
Continue to look to this site for up-to-date trail info. Please be aware of changing conditions and considerate of trail conditions when you head out for your adventures.
