STANDALONE TRAIL MAP
GENERAL COMMENTS: June 20, 2025

Looks like we are in for a cool and rainy weekend. This will be a great refresh for our already dry/dusty trails. If we get heavy rain and muddy conditions- please be sure to give the trails a little time before heading out. Though it is rare that mud last long in our valley!

Ketchum Ranger District/Wood River Trails Coalition report most of the front country trails are open and cut out. Though there is still possibility of snow and moisture hanging in our north valley at higher elevations. Deer Creek and Greenhorn trails have been cleared and the wildflowers are out in force.

Galena Lodge and surrounding trails are open for the summer season! Some Galena trails will remain closed though June 25th for elk calving. Please be respectful of these wildlife closures on sections of The Grinder, Spring Creek, Outhouse Loop, and Crosscut along with all of Bigwood Loop.

Bald Mountain lift operations are scheduled to begin June 27th. Most bike only trails are currently reported to be closed for early season maintenance. Lift assisted biking starts Wednesday July 2nd. Wildlife closures are in place on Cold Springs Trail and part of Warm Spring Trail starting at the Traverse Trail intersection. These closures are in place for elk calving until July 1.

Bellevue, Hailey, mid-valley, and Ketchum all have plenty of open trails to choose from now.

Any trail labeled as partially open (yellow), is available for use if and when conditions allow. Though these trails may not have been cleared of deadfall yet and might still have patches of snow or mud. If a trail has extended wet and muddy sections, please turn back so you do not cause damage to the trail. If you are leaving footprints or tire ruts- that's your sign to turn back.

June 18th the Forest Service reported sheep moving throughout the valley. Click "more details" below for a more detailed sheep report.

Wildlife is present. For information on recommended best practices when wildlife or sheep are encountered, visit this site's Trail Alerts Section.

As you head out for your trail adventures, feel free to report anything you see that you think should be shared. Email me, the BCRD Trails Coordinator, Ashley Knox at aknox@brcd.org.

Enjoy the trails!
Sheep are in the valley. Check summertrailink.org for current reported sheep locations. Expect sheep on the Wood River Trail and on the sheep driveway in the next week as they are moving north to their allotments. Keep in mind land managers do their best to provide accurate sheep locations, however, consider these locations and dates as a suggestion of where the sheep will be Always stay aware of your surroundings.

Let's not forget our manners and trail etiquette no matter where we are or how we recreate. A quick reminder- bikers yield to hikers, and hikers and bikers yield to horses, then downhill yields to uphill. If in doubt, just yield to each other and meet someone new while you talk about how lucky we are to be in such an amazing place. Bottom line is to be kind to each other and enjoy being out on the trails.

Continue to look to this site for up-to-date trail info. Please be aware of changing conditions and considerate of trail conditions when you head out for your adventures.
