STANDALONE TRAIL MAP
GENERAL COMMENTS: March 18, 2025

Spring is on it's way and trails will be starting to dry out and open. We are excited to get out on trail adventures, but please be patient as trails dry out. All trails on Summer Trailink are currently turned to partially open (yellow) or closed (red). Any trail labeled as partially open, is available for use if conditions allow. If you plan go on a trail, pay attention to the temperatures and weather as they will heavily affect the trail conditions. If a trail has extended wet and muddy sections,, please turn back so you do not cause damage to the trail. Don’t forget your layers, temps can change quickly during spring in the mountains.

The BCRD Trails Crew has started moving snow on the South end of the Wood River Trail. It will be cold until the weekend, but we will be able to move snow quickly once it warms up.

Wildlife is present, and through the spring they need plenty of space and to not be disturbed. Maintain awareness of your surroundings. Keep your dogs under voice control or on a leash to prevent them from chasing wildlife. Look at our TRAIL ALERTS page for tips and reminders on recreating around wildlife. Keep in mind there are conditional closures that impact some trails in the South Valley between January 1-April 30. These closures are implemented if the land managers feel it is necessary for the health of the deer and elk populations. In the North Valley, there is a yearly closure in the Warm Springs drainage to protect wintering elk and deer. Respect these closures and educate yourself before heading out. Contact the Ketchum Ranger District or BLM Shoshone Field office for more information.

As you begin to head out for your trail adventures, feel free to report anything you see that you think should be shared. Email me, the BCRD Trails Coordinator, Ashley Knox at aknox@brcd.org.

Happy Spring!
Motorized/ebike closures on some forest service trails are in effect until May 1st. These trails include- Castle Rock #140, Placer Creek #141, Adam’s Rib #142, Rooks Creek #145, Osberg #147, Barr Gulch #168, Oregon Gulch #183, Fox Peak Connector #938 and Big Peak/East Fork of Big Peak #076.

Wildlife is present. For information on recommended best practices when wildlife are encountered, visit this site's Trail Alerts Section.

As always, let's not forget our manners and trail etiquette no matter where we are or how we recreate. A quick reminder- bikers yield to hikers, and hikers and bikers yield to horses, then downhill yields to uphill. If in doubt, just yield to each other and meet someone new while you talk about how lucky we are to be in such an amazing place. Bottom line is to be kind to each other and enjoy being out on the trails.

Continue to look to this site for up to date trail info. Please be aware of changing conditions and considerate of trail conditions when you head out for your adventures.

If you have questions, comments, concerns, or reports about the trails please email BCRD Trail Coordinator Ashley Knox (aknox@bcrd.org), or phone 208/578-2273. For area land management agency contact info, go to the Trail Alerts section of this site.
