STANDALONE TRAIL MAP
GENERAL COMMENTS: May 2, 2024

Colder spring temps, a bit of new snow, and occasional graupel flurries this week have slowed down some of our trails from drying out, but we are still seeing trails slowly open. As you look at what trails to get out on, keep in mind snow is still holding on at higher elevations, north/northeast aspects, and in the trees mid valley and north.

Wood River Trail Coalition and Ketchum Ranger District report that upper part of Cow Creek is open to the meadow where the trail is still snow covered. The new Greenhorn reroute, Cow Horn, and Cow Creek Connector are all dry, though WRTC reports that the creek crossing on shortcut #930 is running pretty high, so out and backs are probably the best option for now. Moto volunteers with WRTC have been cutting out downed trees on Cow Creek and Greenhorn. These trails are not completely open and dry, but both could serve as nice out & backs or connect smaller loops until you are turned around by snow, mud, or more downed trees.

Sun Valley Co. has reported that Proctor trail is open, but you will find a few patches of snow still remain on the trail. Bald Mountain Trail is open to the lookout, though you will need to go over a couple downed trees along the way. Trails crews are working to get these cut out soon. All White Cloud Trails are open except Big Wood Connector. There is a troublesome muddy section near the top. Users have been walking around the mud causing some trail widening. Please respect the closure until the trail has time to dry out to avoid further damage to the area.

All of Croy is open! On Two Dog between the upper junction with Centerline and to Bullion Road user have reported that though there still are some snow patches holding on, they are passable now.

When you head out for your adventures, feel free to report back anything you see that you think should be shared. Email me, the BCRD Trails Coordinator, Ashley Knox at aknox@brcd.org.

Enjoy the trails!

While snow is still holding on at higher elevations, north/northeast aspects, and in the trees mid valley and north. More trails are opening up. A trail user has reported that Sunnyside & Lanes in Adam's Gulch are clear. Part of Coral Creek is clear, except small patches of ice and snow in the trees and you are likely to find bigger sections of snow on the trail above Corral Creek rd.

Sun Valley's White Cloud trails are mostly dry, but some patches of snow and a couple muddy sections on the north facing or shaded aspects are still being reported.

BLM's Croy Trails are almost entirely dry! You will still find snow on the north aspect of Two Dog between the upper junction with Centerline and to Bullion rd. This section will hold snow for a little longer than the other trails and would require a bit of trek if you wanted to loop Two Dog.

The full Quigley Loop, Silver Lining trail, BCRD's Quigley Trails Park, and Belle & Vue trails on both sides of Slaughterhouse are completely dry & open!

When you head out for your adventures, report back anything you see that you feel should be shared. Email me, the BCRD Trails Coordinator, Ashley Knox at aknox@brcd.org. Enjoy the trails!
Many of our trails are not dry or ready for use yet. When you encounter extended sections of snow or mud, please use your best judgement and turn back if you cannot pass over the section without causing damage to the trail. Otherwise you will find mostly dry conditions.

Wildlife is present. For information on recommended best practices when wildlife are encountered, visit this site's Trail Alerts Section.

As always, let's not forget our manners and trail etiquette no matter where we are or how we recreate. A quick reminder- bikers yield to hikers, and hikers and bikers yield to horses, then downhill yields to uphill. If in doubt, just yield to each other and meet someone new while you talk about how lucky we are to be in such an amazing place. Bottom line is to be kind to each other and enjoy being out on the trails.

Continue to look to this site for up to date trail info. Please be aware of changing conditions and considerate of trail conditions when you head out for your adventures.

If you have questions, comments, concerns, or reports about the trails please email BCRD Trail Coordinator Ashley Knox (aknox@bcrd.org), or phone 208/578-2273. For area land management agency contact info, go to the Trail Alerts section of this site.
