STANDALONE TRAIL MAP
GENERAL COMMENTS: May 31, 2024
Just as we are rolling into June, it is really starting to feel like summer is here. Many Galena trails have been cleared and open. You will find great conditions on nearly all the trails on the east side of the highway. Trails on the west side of the highway will take a little longer to melt out. Please be aware of and respect the wildlife closures on the trails, all or portions of the following trails will have wildlife closures thru June 25th; west leg of Outhouse, Crosscut, Spring Creek, and The Grinder. Galena Lodge opens for the season on June 7th!
Many Ketchum and mid valley trails are continuing to open up and in great shape. A huge thanks to WRTC moto volunteers for helping to get our trails open. They have already cut out over 140 trees this spring! If you come across trees across the trail please, let us know. You can fill out a tree report on WRTC's website or email me with the location and details. As you venture further out on the trails keep in mind you will still find snow or wet conditions at higher elevations or tucked away in north and northeast aspects. If you cannot pass thru on the trail, please turn around rather than going off trail to avoid these sections.
Ketchum Ranger District has issued an official closure on trail #146 (Old Adam's rd/Eve's Trail) due to an open Mine Shaft. Eve's can be used as an out and back, but there is no connection to Warmsprings via West Fork of Warmsprings Rd. Please reference the map to see where the closure begins.
Sheep are beginning to move into the valley. One herd will be in Lime Kiln for the next few days, while another herd will be moving into the Deer Creek/ Curran allotment around June 3. They will enter via Bullion Gulch and drop into the top end of Wolftone and trail towards Panther Gulch. For more information on traveling through areas where sheep are likely, visit our trails alert section.
When you head out for your adventures, feel free to report back anything you see that you think should be shared. Email me, the BCRD Trails Coordinator, Ashley Knox at aknox@brcd.org.
Enjoy the trails!
Many of our trails are drying out and opening up, but we still have trails at higher elevations that are still holding snow. When you encounter extended sections of snow or mud, please use your best judgement and turn back if you cannot pass over the section without causing damage to the trail. Otherwise you will find mostly dry conditions.

Wildlife is present. For information on recommended best practices when wildlife are encountered, visit this site's Trail Alerts Section.

As always, let's not forget our manners and trail etiquette no matter where we are or how we recreate. A quick reminder- bikers yield to hikers, and hikers and bikers yield to horses, then downhill yields to uphill. If in doubt, just yield to each other and meet someone new while you talk about how lucky we are to be in such an amazing place. Bottom line is to be kind to each other and enjoy being out on the trails.

Continue to look to this site for up to date trail info. Please be aware of changing conditions and considerate of trail conditions when you head out for your adventures.

If you have questions, comments, concerns, or reports about the trails please email BCRD Trail Coordinator Ashley Knox (aknox@bcrd.org), or phone 208/578-2273. For area land management agency contact info, go to the Trail Alerts section of this site.
